Ring sizing

Cut, join and refinish ring sizing, assessed around the shank, setting, metal and existing condition.

The shank, setting and required adjustment determine the method.

A ring size alone is not enough to plan the job. We look at the shank width and profile, metal, hallmark, stone-set area, previous joins and the difference between the current and required size.

Stone-set shoulders, heat-sensitive stones and unusually thin or worn shanks may change the method or require additional work before a reliable result is possible.

Measured alteration with controlled refinishing.

  1. 01

    Measure

Confirm the present size, required size and the part of the shank where the reading is taken.

  2. 02

    Assess

Check metal, setting, hallmark, previous work and any parts that may be affected by heat or movement.

  3. 03

    Size and join

Adjust the shank using the method agreed for the piece, then refine the join and profile.

  4. 04

    Finish

Polish and apply rhodium where included, followed by a setting and finish check.

A complete sizing specification reduces uncertainty.

  • Current and required UK ring size
  • Metal and hallmark details
  • Shank width at its widest point
  • Stone type and setting layout

Measurements let us prepare the assessment. The shank, setting and earlier work still need to be checked on the physical ring.

Pricing reflects metal, size change and shank width.

The standard schedule covers cut, join and polish by metal, with rhodium included where specified. Material is added per size increase, and wider sections carry an additional allowance. Unusual construction or related repairs are quoted first.

Prices exclude VAT. Send the quantity when several rings share the same specification. VAT is added at the applicable rate.
