CAD and 3D scanning

Digital design and scan capture supported by a production brief, stone data and a defined deliverable.

Reference material must be translated into production information.

Good CAD work starts with manufacturing information, not just reference pictures. Ring size, finished dimensions, metal, stone measurements, setting style and critical thicknesses should be stated wherever they are known.

A 3D scan records accessible geometry. It does not automatically create a production-ready design or recover features the scanner cannot see. Reflective surfaces, undercuts and hidden areas may require interpretation or further measurement.

A defined path from measurement to approved deliverable.

  1. 01

    Define the outcome

State whether the job is a new design, adaptation, scan reference, replacement component or production file.

  2. 02

    Supply dimensions

Confirm units, ring size, stone dimensions, finished size and any fixed measurements.

  3. 03

    Review the design

Resolve construction questions and agree the revision scope before final output.

  4. 04

    Confirm the deliverable

Record the required file, scale, naming and next production stage against the job.

Manufacturing outcome and file requirements establish the scope.

  • Purpose of the file or scan
  • Units and finished dimensions
  • Metal and intended process
  • Stone measurements and map

Use one unit of measurement throughout and identify the required deliverable, scale, revision expectation and next production stage.

CAD and 3D scanning have separate starting rates.

CAD and 3D scanning have separate starting rates. Complexity, missing source information, revision scope and required output determine the quotation.

Prices exclude VAT. Complexity, missing measurements and revision scope affect the quotation. VAT is added at the applicable rate.
